Supachet Bhumakarn

Supachet Bhumakarn was born in Bangkok in 1978. He received his first arts education at the College of Fine Art Bangkok, before moving to Chiang Mai to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at the Fine Arts Department at Chiang Mai University, majoring in Painting.

It did not take long for Supachet to fall in love with his new home town Chiang Mai, where he felt drawn to its nature and animals, particularly elephants. Since he did not particularly like the elephants’ dull grey appearance, though, he starting painting abstract colorful elephants, dressed up, colorfully decorated, sometimes flying. Each of his paintings tells a story. Through his works he turns elephants into cute, seemingly sensitive subjects that everybody can identify with. Hence they are loved by both adults and children, Thais as well as foreigners.

Supachet’s paintings have been exhibited both in Thailand and abroad. But he has also developed his own line of products by the name ‘Things Called Art’, including postcards, T-shirts and notebooks, which are available in his boutique in Chiang Mai’s famous Night Bazaar.

A selection of Supachet’s works are exhibited at La Luna Gallery, and at Matoom Art Space II. His latest paintings can be viewed at http://supachet.goldentriangleart.com/.

Chalermchon Jitjindar

Chalermchon Jitjindar

Born in Prajeenburi near Bangkok in 1975, Chalermon Jitjindarfirst studied at the Fine Arts College in Bangkok. He then completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Print Making at the Fine Arts Department of Chiang Mai University.

Some of Chalermchon’s first works were in the 3D space in form of abstract installations projecting reflective images. From this he took the inspiration for his paintings, which are all about patterns and geometric forms, such as circles and quadrangles in different arrangements and colors. Referring to his style as minimal abstract, Chalermchon applies both print making and painting techniques in his artwork. He particularly likes the simple patterns because ‘they have no meaning and express no feelings or emotions’. But every viewer interprets his own ideas into the images’.

A large selection of Chalermchon’s images is exhibited in his own gallery called ‘Blip Art’ at Chiang Mai’s Nightbazaar. This is also where the artist is often found chatting and philosophizing about art with fellow artists or foreign tourists. His works and more information about him can also be viewed online at chalermchon.goldentriangleart.com

彼の作品はchalermchon.goldentriangleart.comのオンラインページでも見ることができます。
