Phisanu Nantapaipun was born in Bangkok in 1965 and graduated from the Srinakarinwirot University (Burapa) Bangsaen, Chonburi. He now lives and works in Phan, a small village near Chiang Rai city in the Northern-most province of Thailand, where he dedicates his life to painting.
Phisanu’s style of paintings is semi-abstract. He draws his inspiration mainly from Buddhist philosophy and meditation and likes to describe his paintings as intuitive and pure. Unlike other artists, he does not rely on sketches prior to painting. He rather starts painting intuitively and lets his ideas and emotions flow freely to gradually develop and complete his artwork. Phisanu’s choice of materials also seems to follow his intuition and emotions. He likes to use different media, such as acrylic on canvas as the base, adding details with silicon, paper mache and / or pieces of glass.
The resulting artwork is unique in style, strong in expression, yet does not lack a certain symmetry.
Phisanu’s works are frequently exhibited in art galleries in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Bangkok. The majority of his artwork is displayed at his home and art studio, or online at http://phisanu.goldentriangleart.com/.
