Supachet Bhumakarn was born in Bangkok in 1978. He received his first arts education at the College of Fine Art Bangkok, before moving to Chiang Mai to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at the Fine Arts Department at Chiang Mai University, majoring in Painting.
It did not take long for Supachet to fall in love with his new home town Chiang Mai, where he felt drawn to its nature and animals, particularly elephants. Since he did not particularly like the elephants’ dull grey appearance, though, he starting painting abstract colorful elephants, dressed up, colorfully decorated, sometimes flying. Each of his paintings tells a story. Through his works he turns elephants into cute, seemingly sensitive subjects that everybody can identify with. Hence they are loved by both adults and children, Thais as well as foreigners.
Supachet’s paintings have been exhibited both in Thailand and abroad. But he has also developed his own line of products by the name ‘Things Called Art’, including postcards, T-shirts and notebooks, which are available in his boutique in Chiang Mai’s famous Night Bazaar.
A selection of Supachet’s works are exhibited at La Luna Gallery, and at Matoom Art Space II. His latest paintings can be viewed at http://supachet.goldentriangleart.com/.

To Supachet: I am impressed that almost an entire artistic career would be devoted to elephants. As a person who loves elephants, both as breathing, living animals and in their pictorial representation on paintings and as sculptures, I also find your way of painting them simply beautiful. Fortunately for you, but unfortunately for me, you are already too successful and expensive an artist for me to acquire a painting of yours. I hope you'll paint elephants for many years to come, and that every single one of your pieces makes somebody a little bit happier every day.
