Portrait Peera Bangkae

Peera Bangkae

Peera Bangkae is a native Chiang Mai artist who graduated from the Fine Arts Department at the Chiang Mai University with a major in Painting.

The main theme of Peera’s paintings is clearly elephants, which he likes to philosophize about as follows:
‘Elephants, in my perspective, are a reflection of humankind. In my works, elephants are living beings whose reactions are influenced by various social conditions.
Elephants, in urban areas, express a variety of feelings: happiness, fear, paranoia, hope.
Everything imparts change, resulting from social conditions within the varied contexts of space and time.
This includes human life.’

Peera usually names his paintings after streets in Chiang Mai, where he first spots the elephants which are the inspiration for his ensuing artwork.

A selection of Peera’s artwork can be viewed at any time upon appointment with the artist himself. Please contact:

Portrait Somkeat Suriyavong

Somkeat Suriyavong

Somkeat Suriyavong is a young ambitious artist from Chiang Mai who is just about to graduate from the Fine Arts Department at Chiang Mai University.

Having majored in Painting, Somkiat’s techniques include oil and acrylic on canvas and mixed media. His paintings often display religious topics which may be partly due to the fact that Somkiat has previously converted from Buddhism to Christianity himself. Therefore, his artwork could be regarded as part of his inner journey of self-reflection. He typically takes religious figures or biblical events as the basic theme for his paintings and add his own interpretation to come up with unique and sometimes surreal pieces of artwork. Besides paintings, Somkiat also does sculptures, mostly in form of custom-work.

A selection of Somkiat’s artwork can be viewed at any time upon appointment with the artist himself. Please contact:
