Rungsak Dokbua

Mr. Rungsak Dokbua has been among the shining stars of Chiang Mai’s artist scene for many years. Being born in Kamphengphet, Thailand, in 1967, he holds degrees in Fine Arts both from Chiang Mai University and Silapakorn University. His art has over the years been widely exhibited in both Thailand and the United States, where conosceurs particularly like his abstract paintings, people’s portraits, and Computer Graphic art. Many of his works use abstract elements to underline the importance of the main symbols of Thai society, such as the King and Buddha, resulting in very powerful images. In other works, his son is the central theme.

According to Mr. Rungsak, Art is the revelation of inner values and abstract thought. “The power of the imagination will help us travel beyond ordinary thought toward the insight that everything is related.”

Mr. Rungsak has a wide following among artists in Chiang Mai, as he is also a lecturer and art teacher at Chiang Mai University. When he is not teaching, he can usually be found painting in his home-studio, which gives him the chance to be close to his adorable son and wife.

ルンサック・ドックブア

ルンサック･ドックブア氏はチェンマイのアートシーンの中で長年にわたって活躍してきました。
1967年タイ・カンパンペット生まれの彼はチェンマイ大学美術学部修士課程を修了後、シラパコーン大学美術学部を卒業しました。彼の芸術活動は長年にわたってタイとアメリカで幅広く行われており、芸術をこよなく愛する人々の間で彼の抽象画や肖像画、コンピューターグラフィックなどが好まれています。彼のあらゆる作品は、タイ社会において最も重要なシンボル王と仏陀を強調し、その他彼の作品で強力なイメージとして残るのは彼の息子を中心にしたテーマのものです。

ルンサック氏によると、芸術は内面の価値観と抽象的な考えの暴露であり、‶想像力は私たちを通常の考えから、すべてのことには関連性があるといったことを深く理解するのに手助けとなる″としています。

ルンサック氏は数多くのチェンマイの芸術家を後輩に持ち、チェンマイ大学美術学部の講師でもあります。彼が教鞭に立たない時、通常自宅兼工房で絵を描いています。そこはとても素敵な奥様と息子さんに出会えるチャンスを与えてくれるかもしれません。つまり彼はいつでもおしゃべりしたりお互いのアイデアを交換したりするために、興味のある人々を歓迎しているのです。

Santi Vipaka

Mr. Santi Vipaka is an extraordinarily talented artist focusing on sculpture and relief work. Having studied at Arts and Sculpture at Rajamangala University in Chiang Mai and Bangkok he has over the years developed a skill level that is easily comparable to Western standards. His specialty is bust sculptures made of many kinds of materials, including bronze and fiberglass. Mr. Santi is not only capable of doing very accurate realistic work, he has over the years also developed his very own style, which combines realistic with impressionist elements. In addition to sculptures, he also does beautiful bass and high reliefs, mainly in copper.

Mr. Santi has recently started to pass on his skills and knowledge to others and now offers customized courses to interested people.

When he does not spend time at home with his lovely wife and little daughter, Mr.Santi can usually be found in his newly-opened gallery, the Sence Gallery at:

サンティ・ヴィパカ氏は稀な才能の持ち主で彫刻と浮き彫りの作品で注目を浴びています。
・・・と・・・に工房を持ち、長年にわたって西洋水準に匹敵するほどのレベルまで技術を伸ばしました。彼の特に胸像は銅やファイバーガラスを含むさまざまな材料から作られています。
サンティ氏は綿密かつ正確に写実した作品だけでなく、長年彼独自のスタイルで印象的な要素と現実的な要素を取り混ぜた作品もつくっています。また彼は彫刻に加えて、銅をメインにした美しい高浮き彫りと低浮き彫りの作品もつくっています。

サンティ氏は彼の技術と知識を伝えていく為に、興味のある人々に教室を設けています。

サンティ氏が素敵な奥様と娘さんと過ごす時間がないときは、いつもは彼の新しいギャラリーで彼を見かけることが出来るでしょう。

Chiang Mai University Art Museum

Chiang Mai University Art Museum was established in 1996 by the Thai Government with a budget of 46 million Bath with the aim to develop and promote the contemporary and fine arts in Northern Thailand.

The objectives of the museum are
- to serve as a center for contemporary arts and culture at the local, national, and international levels,
- to support the teaching of contemporary art and culture at Chiang Mai University and other art institutions in the Northern region, and
- to promote young Thai artists to a wide national and international audience.

In order to achieve its objectives, the Art Museum regularly houses exhibitions of artists of the most different genre and style. Besides, it organizes all kinds of art and cultural events, and invites artists and guest speakers from other all over Thailand and other countries. Above all though, it provides an open space for everyone to just hang out and relax in a creative environment, or meet like-minded people to exchange ideas with.

Among the unique activities hosted regularly at the Art Museum is the Film Space, a special free movie night taking place every Saturday night at 19.00 on the rooftop of the museum. Watching an open-air movie under the star-lit sky of Chiang Mai, with a view on Doi Suthep and a cool breeze of nightly fresh air, certainly makes for a memorable experience for every visitor to Chiang Mai. チェンマイ大学アートミュージアム

チェンマイ大学アートミュージアムは北タイの現代アートの発展と促進を目的として、
四千六百万バーツの予算でタイ政府によって設立されました。

その目的とは
－国内外レベルでの現代アートと地元文化のセンターとしての利用。
－現代アートとチェンマイ大学の教養、そしてその他北部の芸術的機関の育成をサポート。
－若いアーティストを幅広く国内外に輩出する。

上記の目的を達成する為に、アートミュージアムは定期的に色々なジャンルとスタイルのアーティストの展覧会を行います。またすべての種類の芸術と文化的イベントを組織化し、タイ国内外のアーティストやゲストを招待します。なによりもまず創造的な環境の中でゆったりできる場所、または同じ趣味志向の者同士の交流の場を供給することです。

この類のない活動の間に定期的にアートミュージアムの屋上で毎週土曜日、午後七時より
アートミュージアムフィルムスペースを開催。オープンエアーで星空の下、ドイステープの景色を眺めつつ、涼しい夜風にあたりながらの鑑賞はチェンマイを訪れるすべての人々に忘れられない思い出となることでしょう。

Artist’s statement: “My artwork evolves around "flowers". My sculptures are mostly ephemeral and they "die" like living things. My work speaks about beauty and fear, life and death, momentary and eternal, desire, hope and loss. Nothing is permanent, the pieces are very fragile. It’s an on - going circle of time, a cycle of construction, destruction and reconstruction and I'm always trying to freeze time and beauty forever.”
